“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.”

~ Ephesians 5:15-17 (NLT)

Seeking Grace & Gratitude encourages modern Christian women to live authentic, transparent, and unfiltered lives dedicated to the Lord.

I’m sure you’re wondering, what is a modern Christian woman? A modern Christian woman in a nutshell is someone who loves Jesus, enjoys happy hour and binge-watching Netflix, but never loses sight of living intentionally and purposefully for the Lord. While it is incredibly challenging to balance a social and spiritual lifestyle, it is possible to have our cake and eat it to.

Can we enjoy a good glass of wine and daily fellowship? Yes, please! As long as we put God above everything else, our lives will reflect what (eternal life in heaven) and who (the Lord) we are living for. We can enjoy wine, secular music, and the latest Netflix drama but we can’t let these things control or dictate our priorities or our beliefs. Likewise, it should never surprise someone to learn we follow Christ – it should be displayed in every aspect of our lives from what we think and say to how we act and behave. Modeling our lives after Jesus and being a light onto others will let people know, from miles away, who we belong to.

A great place to start analyzing this balance is by acknowledging that being a Christian in today’s world is counter-cultural and our faith will be challenged daily. We’re living in a society where reality is anything but and where people would rather “play” pretend than embrace who they really are and who God created them to be. Life today is essentially filtered to showcase and manipulate what we want people to think, see or believe about ourselves, our family, our jobs, and our lives. In actual reality, life isn’t pretty. In fact, it’s quite ugly and even messy at times. But with God, we can own our messiness by accepting grace for our mistakes and gratitude for our imperfections. In this world we are imperfectly perfect – perfectly designed yet humanly flawed. If we choose to live our lives intentionally for the Lord, we can use our perfect design to fulfill His Godly purpose.

This is a small glimpse of what SG&G hopes to accomplish. It is our goal to walk alongside modern Christian women in their faith journeys and to create a safe, non-judgmental, social community of encouragement and accountability. Life isn’t easy and it’s far from perfect, especially for a Christian trying to apply biblical principles to a modern lifestyle. As a Christian, we are God’s daughters, which means we are all sisters in Christ – we may not always get along but together we share one Father. And our Father knows all of the skeletons in our closet and wants to use our sisterly bond to clean out our souls and live out His truth.

We invite you to walk with us on this journey called life and commit to living authentically and purposefully for the Lord. We confess – we are a bunch of messed up, imperfectly perfect women who do not have life figured out, but together we can be a light in a world of darkness!
