“God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in times of trouble.
So we will not fear when earthquakes come
and the mountains crumble into the sea.
Let the oceans roar and foam.
Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!
A river brings joy to the city of our God,
the sacred home of the Most High.
God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed.
From the very break of day, God will protect it.
The nations are in chaos,
and their kingdoms crumble!
God’s voice thunders,
and the earth melts!
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress.
Come, see the glorious works of the Lord:
See how he brings destruction upon the world.
He causes wars to end throughout the earth.
He breaks the bow and snaps the spear;
He burns the shields with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress.” ~ Psalm 46
I was reading Psalm 46 and couldn’t believe the parallels it had to the current state of our world. It’s an inspiring reminder that our Lord has not left us even though at times He may feel far away.
God is on our side. We have nothing to fear if we truly believe He is near. The Lord calls His people to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to pray in and for every situation so as not to fall victim to fear or anxiety (Philippians 4:6).
Prayer is a positioning of the heart that surrenders control while providing space for God to intervene and do His work. Prayer can change lives and it can save lives. It really is an incredible thing.
A person who prays is a person with power. Satan knows this and wants to distract you from the amazing things God has destined you to do.
I don’t know about you, but my heart is weary from riding the crazy train that is the year 2020. It’s been a wild and confusing time for sure, but friend, we can’t give up. We must persevere and pray like our world depends on it because guess what? It does!
As we head into the last few months of the year, let’s spur each other on in love, hope and truth. Let’s seek to positively uplift one another while accepting the gift of peace that surpasses all understanding – God is the ultimate authority in control.
In the thick of my prayer for a spiritual pick-me-up, The Butterfly Box landed on my doorstep. This beautiful, little turquoise box had the words “Transform. Renew. Pursue” along with “Romans 12:2” written on top. It got me all excited and I couldn’t wait to discover what treasures rested inside! [Side note: I just love the NLT version of Romans 12:2, which states: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”]
The Butterfly Box is my first experience with a monthly subscription box so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I will say it was certainly the dose of encouragement I needed to receive during this current season of spiritual endurance.
The Butterfly Box is delivered directly to your home each month and contains a thoughtfully curated box of goodies centered around a specific theme. For the month of September (which is the box I received), the theme was, “Women of Prayer.”
Inside my box, I found:
- The Power of a Praying Women devotional by Stormie Omartian
- Be Still and Know journal
- Butterfly Prayer Bracelet with Romans 12:12 scripture card
- Vanilla White Tea & Sweet Peppermint Tea Drops
- Weekly Prayer Strategy Guide
Each month’s box is crafted to help women reclaim quiet moments with God, build intimacy with Christ and live out a fearless faith. Additionally, each box illustrates a biblical theme to encourage spiritual growth and contains 5-6 carefully chosen items such as jewelry, books, décor, artwork, pampering tools, or faith sharing cards. Moreover, each product is faith-based and/or supports small Christian businesses. How cool is that?
I was thoroughly impressed by my experience with The Butterfly Box and particularly loved the Weekly Prayer Guide – it included specific areas of prayer focus for all 7 days of the week along with guided prayer assistance. Actively and intentionally using the prayer guide along with the journal and devotional will strengthen anyone’s prayer life while enlightening their heart to pray for all aspects of the world.
The Butterfly Box would make a perfect gift for a loved one or for yourself. As a special gift for following Seeking Grace & Gratitude, you can receive 10% off your first Butterfly Box by using the coupon code: WELCOME10
